Aims & objectives

We are an independent, non party, non-sectarian body for the public benefit for the following purposes in Bexhill-on-Sea, especially the Old Town. In particular, we exist to:

  • preserve the antiquity and character of the area of benefit as a thriving community;
  • educate the citizens and friends of Bexhill in an appreciation  of the history, geography, natural history and architecture of the area;
  • yardsecure the preservation, protection, development and improvement of features of historic or public interest in the area of benefit;
  • promote a high standard of planning and architecture in or affecting the area and to oppose any inappropriate developments;
  • represent the views of the society to Local, County, and other Authorities;
  • insure, maintain, repair and keep in working order, the Jubilee clock and its belfry;
  • help foster local community spirit, to arrange lectures and social events connected with the area of benefit.
